Fail-Safe Pumps Offer Reliability
Becker are one of the world's most robust and reliable industrial
vacuum pumps because they can run 'open-to-atmosphere' without
any danger of seizing. That feature alone makes a Becker vacuum
pump a significant consideration for any plant manager.

Service
4 Ways' service department is coordinated by some of New Zealand's
most experienced pump engineers.
"New Zealand already had a sizeable installed base of Becker
and Edwards pumps, which we are happily extending on a daily basis," says
Stephen Walls "and we currently have a stock inventory worth
in excess of $500,000. If we haven't got the part, we can simply
order it direct from our supplier and it can be landed here within
a few weeks."
He points out that the company services and refurbishes all types
of pumps - both as one-off jobs and as part of site contracts. "With
a site contract, we're responsible for assessing all the pumps
in a plant once a year - typically during the annual shutdown.
It includes vacuum tests on each pump, a comparison of the reading
against the manufacturers' rating, and of course checking filters
and oil. The assessment's followed by a written report about each
pump, with a recommended repair / maintenance strategy for those
showing signs of stress."
He says much can be interpreted about a pump's condition simply
by listening and observing it under load. "The kind (and colour)
of dirt in the fan housing, leaking seals, vibration and the condition
of oil are all important signals. But we complement that with additional
tests - such as a current check on the electric motor, for example,
and the condition of the windings. If the load's excessive, you're
probably heading for a seized pump."
4 Ways supplies and services customers all over the country.
